The Asia-wide peasant group Asian Peasant Coalition (APC) lambasted the Indian government’s massive war against its own people under the code name "Operation Green Hunt" which started in 2009. It involves the deployment of 70,000 military and paramilitary troops in the so-called "Red Corridor" that runs through parts of Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Chattisgarh, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa and West Bengal states.

LAGUNA, Philippines - The Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas (KMP), Kalipunan ng mga Samahang Magbubukid sa Timog Katagalugan (KASAMA-TK), Magsasaka at Syentipiko para sa Pag-unlad ng Agrikultura (MASIPAG), Philippine Network of Food Security Programmes (PNFSP), Resistance and Solidarity against Agrochemical TNCs (RESIST Network) and Asian Peasant Coalition (APC), joined together and led at least 200 people in a protest action today, that coincide with the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) 50th anniversary launch.

In a joint statement today, the MASIPAG (Farmers and Scientist for Development of Agriculture), GRAIN (Genetic Resources Action International), KMP (Peasant Movement of the Philippines ) and APC (Asian Peasant Coalition), slams global hybrid rice program and call for the closure of the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI).

In a joint statement today, the Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas (KMP) and the Asian Peasant Coalition (APC), calls on the World Trade Organization (WTO) ministers attending the “mini-Ministerial” n New Delhi, India, to refuse any attempt to push through a conclusion to the Doha Round because it will worsen the crises, hunger, poverty, landlessness and agricultural production globally.”

The two-day meeting of 35 WTO trade ministers began yesterday (September 3), in New Delhi emphasizing the need to strengthen the multilateral regime to boost $32 trillion global trade.

The Asia-wide peasant group Asian Peasant Coalition (APC) said that on March 7, 2009, the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) led by its Director-General Dr. Robert Zeigler has met with high-ranking government officials of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia regarding efforts to secure rice production overseas.

The militant Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas (KMP, Peasant Movement of the Philippines ) hailed the people's movement for its resolute campaign for the immediate release of Randall Echanis. Echanis is the Deputy Secretary-General for External Affairs of KMP, arrested on January 28, 2008, accused of multiple murder in Inopacan, Leyte . The charge was the alleged "communist purges" during the 1980s accusing Bayan Muna Rep. Satur Ocampo, Anakpawis Vice-Chair Rafael Baylosis and NDF Consultant Vicente Ladlad but the peasant group believes that this is the Arroyo government's political persecution of critics as part of the counter-insurgency program Oplan Bantay Laya 2, and administered by the Inter-Agency Legal Action Group (IALAG)

At the height of global financial crisis, state terrorism and widespread land grabbing of huge tracts of agricultural land in poor Asian countries, the 15 million strong Asian Peasant Coalition (APC) kicked-off a “Five--month Asia-wide Peasants’ Caravan for Land and Livelihood” that started on July 20 in Sri Lanka and will end in November 2009 in India.
